The New Paper Big Walk

November 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Here are some photos I’ d taken with my family while out walking with masses of others. It was a very popular event with lots of participants. I was out with my Dad who could not walk very fast initially. We separated from the one-third mark near Kallang Stadium and I actually backtracked to search for him, thinking he’ d taken a break somewhere.. He was well ahead of our group about 20 mins at the finishing line! Thank God.. He’d decided to press onward first and left us all behind! :-)

The Virgin Birth

October 10th, 2008 · No Comments

From the New Testament, we find 2 passages in Matt 1:18-25 and Luke 1:26-38, which tells us how we come to know as the miracle Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ.

Mat 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Luk 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

This miracle virgin conception in Mary by the Holy Spirit (Matt 1:20 and Luke 1:35) should not suprise us. For God did it for Abraham and Sarah when they waited till very old and still did not have a son. For what did God say in Gen 18:14?

Gen 18:14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

Surely as with Matt 19:26, if we believe Him instead of ourselves, we can believe in the Virgin Birth. :-)

Mat 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Small group Popian Gathering

September 27th, 2008 · No Comments

What better way to gather and finish our last time at Central small group than with popian.. :-)

West group decided to join us and all 18 of us had good fellowship of food, thanksgiving and prayer requests to the Lord! We gave thanks to how the Lord worked in the small group ministry and said our goodbyes to the weekly meetings but we press on to see how we can achieve better focus with the new Sunday School.

Check out the “music montage” of the event below:

Goodbye students

July 22nd, 2008 · 7 Comments

Thank you for being wonderful students, I hope you had learnt as much from me as I had learnt from you. So just what are the things I had learnt from you?

  • The lesson is only as interesting as you make it (even Unix scripting can be interesting)
  • Be patient, repeat 5 times at least (repetition is a way of life)
  • A teacher must be ready to demo (live coding and debug)
  • Set the right expectations to get the right results

Some of my favourite quotes:

  • No eating in the lab, eat outside if you want
  • No gaming in the lab
  • You can survive without MSN for this lab
  • The answer to the lab is not from Friendster or Facebook

And lastly my favourite quote:

He who loves instruction loves knowledge

But he who hates correction, is stupid.

This is wisdom and it’ s from the bible from the book of Proverbs chapter 12 verse 1. Check it out! :-)
